Rainy February- A Quick Update

I get 3 days of birding each week, but unfortunately Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays in February have been extremely rainy. Given that it's my last semester in Aggieland I am also not traveling as much to make the most of my time here. I was really only able to make one chase of the Elegant Trogon in New Braunfels, but rain kept the bird hidden. Nevertheless, I still picked up a few year birds to get me up to 75 on the year.

While the February birding was slow, there are big plans up ahead. Migration has started up, which is my favorite time of year. I'm planning on being in Brison Park every morning before work/class after Spring Break.

I'll be Spring Breaking in San Francisco for the first half, so I will be picking up a ton of California birds and exploring the Presidio and Point Reyes. Easter is hopefully going to take me to West Texas for a bit if I can find some friends to go with me. Ideally I'd go to Big Bend, Davis Mountains, or Guadalupe Mountains. High Island and/or Quintana are two other spots, especially after a storm. After my move to Houston in June I'll start exploring that area.

Today was my first day back out at Lick Creek and it was a great day, I'll get a post up soon. Happy birding!
